The program consists of eight (8) full-day class sessions held one day per month from August thru April. The program includes orientation and graduation sessions and individualized training. Each session focuses on selected topics representing key community issues and will be held at various community locations. During each session, participants are introduced to issues by means of panel, lectures, on-site visits, group discussions and simulations. In each case, the program is designed to address specific areas rather than vague concepts.
Participants are recommended by their school administration and demonstrate potential leadership qualities. Participants are motivated and committed to serve the community. Participation in the session represents a significant commitment of time and dedication by the participants. Attendance at ALL sessions is required for graduation. In the case of an emergency, participants may apply for an excused absence. A project component is required during the leadership program. This project is developed within assigned groups as the program progresses.
